Illimani
The highest peak in the Cordillera Real, with it´s 6,439 mts. Is a hugemassive mountain with three summits over 6,000 mtstsIllimani offers a serious, high altitude challenge.
Program :
Day 1. Travelling southeast over dirty road to a small village where we meet our mule driver and mules. Then we climb gradually higher enjoying nice views
of Illimani and establish our base camp at "Puente Roto" 4400 m, the sunset over the Altiplano and the City of La Paz is amazing.
Day 2. Today will be help by porters for the 1,000 mts ascent to reach a snowy bench at 5,450 mts, this our high camp "Nido de condores”. Great place to
observe the entire Cordillera Real to the north and Sajama to the south.
Day 3. Climbing the Southwest Buttress, initially ascending steep exposed slopes along a sharp ridgeline and negotiating large crevasses and some passes
of 50 degrees steep until reach the upper saddle and gain the final ridge to the summit, then descent to the base camp, for sure this is one of the
most exciting expedition on one of South America's greatest peaks.
Day 4. Ashort trek to Estancia Unna where we'll be picked up for our two hours drive to La Paz.
