Huayhuash Trek

The southern section of the western chain of the Peruvian  Andes, is located between the provinces of Ancash and Huánuco. To the southeast of the Cordillera Blanca, the spectacular Cordillera Huayhuash  trek covers 160 kilometers, through some of Peru’s most impressive mountains. Siula Grande, Yerupaja the second highest mountain in Perú and the icy fang of Jirishanca provide spectacular scenery. Many mountaineers considered these to be some of the world's hardest, longest and most spectacular peaks, beating some existing routes in the Himalayas and Africa. The fantastic ice ridges immortalized in the book “Touching the Void “ by Joe Simpson with his mountaineering partner Simon Yates, characterize these knife-edged 6096 m (20,000 Ft) peaks.

The scenary is characterized by glistening white peaks and scenic mountain lakes. Besides being remote, this demanding hike is only suitable for experienced trekkers and those in high level of physical condition.
