Ausangate Mountain Trek
There’s a Land were the people have not much contact with the Occidental tourist, the Indians still keep their own old ceremonies, wear their traditional clothes chew coca leaves in the name of the mountain god (Apu) , work the land with hand made tools and most of them don’t speak Spanish.
Shy but strong people that proudly will show you their hard way of life on the mountains.
For the admiration that the Incas had regarding the mountains, this impressive masive includes numerous snowy peaks like Ausangate (6385 m) that constitute a beautiful natural scene. This offers you possibilities to share its beautiful landscape with locals.
In this picturesque region, we enjoy a series of wonderful lakeside camps. We cross several high passes at approximately 4876.8 m (16,000 ft). Each provides far-reaching mountain vistas.
A team of mule drivers, pack handlers of donkeys and horses ensure that you only carry your needs for the day. We camp on grassy pastures and tranquil clearings. Be aware that temperatures often drop below freezing at night so that thermal layers and a good four season sleeping bag are a must. This experience however will make you forget the stresses of every day life. Hot springs at the first and sixth camp invite you to a relaxing dip in proximity to Nevado Ausangate.
